About Cambridge University Hospitals

Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation Trust comprises Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Rosie Hospital in Cambridge. The Trust provides accessible high-quality healthcare for the local people of Cambridge, together with specialist services, dealing with rare or complex conditions, for a regional, national and international population. The Trust is recognised as a centre of excellence and innovation with many of the hospital specialists being leaders in their field.

Addenbrooke’s provides emergency, surgical and medical care for local people and is the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) for the East of England. It is also a regional centre of excellence for specialist services such as transplantation, cancer, neurosciences, paediatrics and genetics. Based on the same site as Addenbrooke’s, the Rosie hospital is a women’s hospital and the regional centre of excellence for maternity care. CUH also provides satellite and outreach services at other locations to meet the needs of patients e.g. in other hospitals; GP practices, patient homes etc.

Our Priorities and values

Our commitment to our patients and our community is as an open, accountable and responsive organisation that fosters patient and public involvement, which we consider is crucial to the development of a modern hospital fit for the 21st century. The Trust achieved NHS Foundation Trust status in July 2004 and as such has a Board of Governors and a membership of approximately 19,000, comprising patients, volunteers staff, and members of the public who are actively involved with the Trust in ensuring that our services reflect the needs of those using them.

Our priorities focus on providing a safe, equitable and quality service which is all about people – patients, staff, volunteers and partners. The Trust’s current key priorities include:

  • Improving patient care
  • Supporting our staff
  • Building for the future

Our behaviour, with patients and each other as colleagues, reflects the values staff and patients have identified as being central to our character as an organisation.

Our values are ‘Together Safe-Kind-Excellent’, and are at the heart of patient care, defining the way we work and behave.
